The City of East Providence was selected to receive a 2015 Rhode Island Clean Energy Future Award as one of Rhode Island's outstanding leaders in renewable energy. The steps the City has taken to generate emission free electricity are exemplary.

This year's Clean Energy Future Awards were presented at the Energy Expo, which were held as part of the Rhode Island Home Show at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The Energy Expo, sponsored by the Office of Energy Resources (OER), National Grid, and the Energy Efficiency and Resource Management Council, brought practical and affordable energy saving solutions to Rhode Island families and businesses. Last year's Expo and Home Show saw an attendance of about 20,000 people and 95 energy companies exhibited.

On Friday, March 6th 2015 at 6:30 p.m., OER, National Grid Rhode Island President Tim Horan and other leaders recognized extraordinary Ocean State clean energy leaders. This ceremony acknowledged several outstanding contributors to Rhode Island clean energy future, including representatives from municipalities, schools, non-profits, and Rhode Island businesses.
