In April 2012, CME Energy formed North America Project Development, LLC with Pure Energy and began the development of the Oregon Clean Energy Center in the city of Oregon, Ohio. The Oregon Clean Energy Center is an 869 MW—951 at Peak, generated by Siemens’ H turbine technology in a combined cycle configuration—natural gas-fired electric power plant, designed to be most efficient generating facility in the mid-Atlantic power markets. The project is capable of producing up to 961 MW.

CME Energy and North America Project Development brought in Ares/EIF, which initially served as exclusive equity provider. Eventually, the investment group I Squared joined as a co-investor and owner. The project reached financial close November 14, 2014. Black & Veatch began construction on November 17, 2014. CME, through NAPD, remains a minority owner. As of 2018, the project is being refinanced.

The plant began commercial operations in June 2017.

The Oregon Clean Energy Center won IJGlobal’s North American Single-Asset Power 2014 Award in March 2015.

The project received the IJ Global Award as the best single asset in North America in 2014.
